The Department of Sanitation provides residential garbage collection to all single-family residences in good standing with Conway Corporation utilities. This service includes one 96-gallon green curbside garbage cart with weekly collection. Curbside collection occurs Tuesdays through Fridays.
- Garbage collection is a required utility for all residential accounts within the City of Conway.
- A fee of $17.00 plus tax is included in the resident’s monthly Conway Corporation billing.
- A residential account with Conway Corporation must be active before collection can begin.
- With your utility garbage collection, residential recycling, and yard waste services are available at no additional charge.

Do you live outside the Conway city limits? Contact your city or county government offices for collection requirements and processes. The Conway Department of Sanitation provides collection services only within the Conway city limits.
Collection Guidelines
Curbside garbage collection will occur under the following guidelines:
- Curbside carts must be placed at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on your regular collection day.
- Curbside carts must be placed on a flat surface no less than 3-feet from all obstacles (e.g. other carts, utility poles, mailboxes, vehicles, holiday décor, etc.) and within 2-feet of the curb.
- Place the cart where it opens toward the curb/street and the handle is toward the home.
- Any garbage placed outside of the green cart will not be collected curbside.
- The cart lid must close completely.
Per state and local regulations, some items are not permitted for regular curbside collection. These items include, but are not limited to:
- motor oil
- liquid paint
- liquid glue
- appliances
- e-waste
- furniture
- auto batteries
- auto parts
- medical waste
- tires
- construction debris (e.g. carpet, padding, wood, dry wall)
Residential Recycling
The Department of Sanitation provides residential recycling collection to single-family residences utilizing paid green-cart curbside garbage collection and in good standing with Conway Corporation utilities. This service includes one 96-gallon blue curbside recycling cart with weekly collection. Curbside recycling collection occurs throughout the Conway city limits on Mondays only.
- Citizens residing in multi-family complexes where green-cart service is not utilized are encouraged to bring recyclables directly to the city facility without charge.
- A residential account with Conway Corporation must be active before collection can begin.
- With your utility garbage collection, residential recycling and yard waste services are provided at no additional charge.

Accepted Curbside Recyclables
We accept the following clean, dry materials:

Common items NOT accepted: plastic bags, food waste, face masks, gloves, to-go containers, medical waste of any kind (e.g. needles, band-aids, IV bags, tubing), personal hygiene products, pet food bags, aerosol cans, aluminum foil, batteries, mirrors, ceramics, used napkins, plastic wrap, yogurt cups, clothing, toys, packing peanuts, plastic cups, used paper plates, or plastic packaging.
Glass Recycling Guidelines
Glass is never allowed in blue recycling carts. Instead, glass recycling bins are available to residents at no additional charge. Rinsed, glass bottles and jars of all colors are accepted. Labels and lids are acceptable. Light bulbs of any kind, appliance glass, windowpanes, mirrors, and tempered glass are not accepted.
Curbside glass collection occurs on your day of regularly scheduled garbage collection.

Other Recyclables
No other recyclables will be accepted curbside. Residents may bring the following items to the city landfill for legal disposal and reuse (nominal fee may apply):
- Electronic Waste
such as televisions, tablets, cellular phones, gaming stations - Household Hazardous Materials
such as motor oil jugs, chemical buckets, batteries, and paint cans - Passenger Vehicle Tires
non-commercial tires only
Yard Waste

Yard waste collection is a residential-only service offered by the Department of Sanitation. This weekly service is provided at no additional charge to single-family residences utilizing paid green-cart curbside garbage collection and in good standing with Conway Corporation utilities. Curbside collection occurs on the same day as the resident’s regularly scheduled garbage collection.
- Yard waste is banned from being placed in either of the green and blue curbside carts. State regulations do not permit yard waste in landfills, and yard waste is not permitted within the recycling stream.
- Curbside carts found with yard waste inside will not be collected.

Collection Guidelines
Curbside yard waste collection will occur under the following guidelines:
- Yard waste collection includes only general yard debris, such as grass clippings, twigs, and leaves.
- Yard waste must be placed at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on your regular collection day.
- Yard waste must be placed within 2-feet of the curb.
- No more than 10 biodegradable brown paper bags or resident-owned containers will be collected per collection day (32-gallon maximum).
- Filled bags and containers must not exceed 50-pounds.
- Stacked brush piles must not exceed 10-feet (L) x 10-feet (W) x 3-feet (H).
- Provided yard waste services are not applicable for tree removal.
- Animal waste of any kind will not be accepted and will prevent collection.
- Yard waste placed in plastic bags of any kind (including plastic bags labeled for trash, leaves, compost, and yard) will not be accepted and will prevent collection.
- Brush and limbs generated as a result of contracted work will not be collected curbside. Conway ordinance (O-77-12) requires that all professional tree trimming/cutting service providers haul away any yard waste they generate.

Bulky Item

Bulky item collection is a residential-only service offered by the Department of Sanitation. Most general household bulky items are collected at no additional charge for single-family residences utilizing paid green-cart curbside garbage collection and in good standing with Conway Corporation utilities.
- An appointment is required.
- Three items per collection and up to two collections per calendar year are permitted for each residential account.
- Some specialty items (no different than when brought directly to the landfill) will require a nominal disposal fee. Any applicable fee(s) will be discussed when making the appointment and included in the resident’s monthly Conway Corporation billing.

Common bulky items NOT accepted curbside include, but are not limited to:
- trees and debris
- bricks and lumber
- carpet rolls and pads
- tires
- bags of garbage
- televisions
- batteries
- hazardous waste
Collection Guidelines
Curbside bulky item collection will occur under the following guidelines:
- Curbside collection is available by appointment only and at the discretion of the Department of Sanitation.
- Two collections are permitted annually. Up to three bulky items are permitted in each collection.
- Residents are strictly prohibited from placing bulky items curbside until the day prior to the scheduled collection.
- Bulky items must be placed at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day.
- Bulky items must be placed, within 5-feet of the curb, away from all obstacles (e.g. other carts, utility poles, mailboxes, vehicles, holiday décor, etc.), and out of the roadway.
- In the airspace above the items to be collected, there must be at minimum 20-feet overhead clearance.
